26 Omani photographers to show works on women’s day

To mark Omani Women’s Day, 26 women photographers from the sultanate will showcase their works on Tuesday, at an exhibition held under the patronage of H H Sayyida Dr Taghreed bint Turki al Said.

Omani Women’s Day is observed on October 17 every year. Organised by the Photographic Society of Oman and the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science (SQHCCS), the tenth edition of the exhibition seeks to showcase the customs, values of an Omani woman and how she sees Oman’s beautiful landscape.

The exhibition will include 36 photographs selected by a neutral jury. Photographs will include face, abstract, conceptual, nature and silent photography.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a photo collage competition on Omani women. Three winners will be announced.

The exhibition was preceded by a number of lectures and workshops on art. In addition, several trips for the photographers were also conducted. The photographers visited Rustaq and Nakhal in cooperation with the Rustaq and Nakhal photographic team. Some of the other trips were to Muttrah and Muscat, Nizwa, Bahla and Al Hamra.

The exhibition will be on at the Photographic Society of Oman in Al Khoudh till October 31.
