Muscat: The Arab Tourism Organization has named the city of Salalah in Oman as the capital of Arab Summer Resorts for the year 2019.
The organisation expects a positive tourism return of 30 per cent.
The title is given to the destination that applies the standards of the organization to be the capital of the Arab resorts, which include the management and the organisational work in the resorts, the infrastructure and services of the resorts, the sources of recreation and the environment preservation and protection. In addition the tourism safety, security and stability are also taken into account.
According to the Ministry of Tourism: “The activities organised by the destination are considered as criteria in the selection process as well as the continuous development of the infrastructure and new investment projects that meet the requirements of Arab tourists in order to welcome them.”
The title of the capital of Arab summer resorts aims to highlight the winning city with its suitable climate, allows it to drive the modern tourism sector, wherein the selected capital brings a lot of economic returns to its countries by increasing the number of tourists by about 25 per cent to 30 per cent, which is attracted by the establishment of festivals and associated events.
